Leveraged Funding

Over the past 3 and one-half years WMREI has provided funding primarily through salary, one equipment purchase and supplies to help develop expertise in the area of detecting human pathogens and controlling them in surface and ground waters. This work is being performed collaboratively between researchers in the Department of Microbiology (Drs. Layton and Sayler), Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (Drs. McKay and McCarthy) and Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (Dr. Gentry). To date, we have had received a total of $503,107 (see Proposals received). For these projects WMREI has provided $147,986 in matching funds (see table below).
