Biographical Sketch

Dr. Randy Gentry is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He joined the department in the fall of 2002. He continues to collaborate with Drs. Larry McKay and Norbert Thonnard on the application of environmental tracers in semi-confined aquifer systems. The focus of the research has been in production wellfields and an identified aquitard window site in Shelby County, tracers as risk indicators in areas of leakage to the Memphis aquifer. This work has included a close collaborative relationship with the U.S. Geological Survey, the Hydrogeology Group at the University of Tennessee, the Ground Water Institute at The University of Memphis and Dr. Kip Soloman at the University of Utah. In addition to this work, Dr. Gentry is working with Drs. Larry McKay, Alice Layton, John McCarthy and Ed Perfect on multidisciplinary research related to the CEB pathogens initiative.

Dr. Gentry received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Memphis. Prior to accepting his current position at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Gentry was the Associate Director of the Ground Water Institute and and Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Memphis.
